Boys track takes second at Harry Burnet Relays

Juniors Tre’Ron Griffin (left) and Taveon Harris were a part of a team that placed second in the 1600-meter relay at the Harry Burnet Relays hosted by Kearsley on Wednesday, April 12.

The boys track team placed second overall at the Harry Burnet Relays, hosted by Kearsley, Wednesday, April 12.

The Hornets scored 87 points, coming in second to Carman-Ainsworth’s 104. Swartz Creek finished third with 68 points.

Kearsley placed second in the 400-meter relay with a time of 47.78. The team consisted of Dakotah Doman, Jacob Kunkel, Gavin Etson, and Jaylon Burchfield.

The 400-throwers relay of Jamelco Harvey, Eddie Harris, Dylan Buscher, and Seth Cherubini won with a time of 53.68.

The 1600-relay team of Tre’Ron Griffin, Hunter Stanley, Tommy Plunkey, and Taveon Harris placed second, coming in at 3:41.59.

“I feel we ran well overall,” Taveon Harris said. “We worked hard at practice to prepare.”

Winning the sprint-medley relay was Griffin, Plunkey, Taveon Harris, and Younger. They had a time of 1:40.32.

The distance-medley relay placed third in 12:45.01. The team consisted of Kunkel, Stanley, Raydoffa Braziel, and Donald Martin.

The shuttle-hurdle relay also won. The team of Etson, Gerald Balcer, Erick Lara, and Stanley hurdled in 1:13.30.

Kearsley also placed second in high jump. Plunkey jumped 5 feet, 11 inches, and Etson jumped 5-03.

In the shot put, Eddie Harris threw 45-4.5, and Jamelco Harvey threw 41-0, earning them second.

The Hornets also placed second in discus. Cherubini threw 121-0 and Eddie Harris threw 119-04.
