Tennis wins first home match of season
The Hornets won their first home match of the season with a final score of 6-2 against Bay City Central on Wednesday, April 12.
All of the singles and doubles teams won their matches except for the No. 1 teams for singles and doubles.
All three singles won their matches.
Senior Hannah Brackin, at No. 2 singles, won her match with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
At No. 3 singles, junior Brooke Mannor won her match 6-2, 6-4.
No. 4 singles sophomore Claudia Moore won 6-3, 6-1.
Moore said she thinks that she has improved from her last match and that she hopes her team can do the same.
On Tuesday, April 11, the tennis team tied with Carman-Ainsworth 4-4.
All four doubles teams won their matches while the four singles fell short.
The No. 1 doubles team, sophomores Emily Jones and Chloe Clarambeau, dominated their match with a score of 6-0, 6-0.
Junior Hannah Hendley and senior Bree Rosenbum, at No. 2 doubles, won 6-1, 6-1.
The No. 3 doubles team, sophomore Ellena Dye and junior Mallory Teed won 6-1, 6-0.
To finish it off, the No. 4 doubles team, sophomores Mickeely Dias and Mallory Simms, owned their matches 6-0, 6-1.
The Hornets (1-1-1) appear next at home against Holly at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18.
