Along with other French and Spanish students, sophomore Stephanie Lane enjoyed singing and performing skits in the foreign language she’s learning.

The performances were part of Foreign Language Variety Night, or Flavin, as its most commonly called, in the auditorium Thursday, March 16.

Lane, a Spanish III student, also really enjoyed being on stage.

“It was fun learning a song in Spanish and being able to perform it in front of people,” she said.

Many other students also enjoyed performing in the show.

Freshman Kaylee Perkins, a Spanish II student, liked how different it was from an average project.

“I enjoyed it because it was a different kind of activity to do rather than just notes or Spanish papers,” Perkins said. “You get to learn more Spanish words while still having fun.”

Perkins also said performing made her enjoy learning a foreign language even more.

“It’s something you can look forward to when you take the class,” Perkins said. “It’s the most fun thing to do for foreign language (class).”

The songs all varied from traditional songs to modern songs.

For Lane, she especially enjoyed “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which was performed by some Spanish III students.

“They got so into their song,” Lane said, “and it’s more enjoyable to watch performances when they’re having fun on stage.”

Altogether, most seemed to enjoy performing and watching the performances.

“I think everybody did good, especially since it was a lot of people’s first time going to the night performance,” Perkins said. “It’s a scary thing to do, but everybody did good.”
