Girls of Irish descent could win scholarships in pageant
The Ancient Order of Hibernians is hosting a Miss Hibernia 2017 pageant in honor of Irish American Heritage Month and is looking for girls who want to compete for the $1,000 scholarship.
This competition is for girls of Irish descent only.
Contestants will be judged on their knowledge of Irish heritage, poise, personality, appearance, and interviews with the screening committee.
In order to compete, you must meet these qualifications:
- You must be of Irish descent.
- You must be 16-22.
- you must be a single, never married woman.
- The official biographical form must be completed and submitted with the entry form.
- You must submit a photograph with your entry.
- You must be able to attend the screening interview on Sunday, January 22, at 4 p.m. at Kathy’s restaurant in Flushing.
- You must be able to attend the 2017 Pre-St. Patrick’s Day Party where Miss Hibernia will be crowned on Feb. 11 at Dom Polski’s on Linden Road.
- You must be able to participate in St. Patrick Day events in Flint on March 17.
Besides the winner receiving the $1,000 cash scholarship as top prize, the first runner-up will be awarded a $500 cash scholarship and the second runner-up will receive a $350 cash scholarship.
Mr. Craig Golembiewski, counselor, has application forms for those who are considering entering the competition.

Entries must be turned in no later than Tuesday, Jan. 17. They may be mailed to 6474 Pine Brook Lane, Burton, Mich. 48509, or they may be emailed to [email protected].
