Senior Steven Alvarado enjoys being a part of the GCI program.

Genesee Career Institute is a program Kearsley offers to prepare students for their possible professions.

Once in the 10th grade, students can apply to be in the GCI program the following school year.

Senior Steven Alvarado, who enrolled in the Digital Media Arts program at GCI, said the program was extremely beneficial to him.

“Now I know what I actually want to do as a job,” Alvarado said. “I want to go into digital media arts and go into photography.”

The GCI program provides essential skills and training for students, and Alvarado said he feels GCI trained him well for his future in photography.

“I feel like it helped me in being more knowledgeable about photography,” he said.
