Mott to host Financial Aid Night at KHS
Seniors seeking help filling out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, are invited to Financial Aid Night on Thursday, Oct. 20.
The event, sponsored by Mott Community College, will be held in the media center at 6 p.m.
October has been proclaimed “Michigan College Month” by Gov. Rick Snyder, and his goal is to have all high school seniors college ready. This includes filling out the FAFSA, completing at least one college application, and applying for at least one scholarship.
This task may seem daunting for some students, so schools are being encouraged to help any way that they can.
Senior Emily Harper said the event is good for all seniors.
“I think my mom already filled out the FAFSA,” Harper said. “But even for people like that it would be a good idea to go and make sure you did everything right.”
Counselors encourage parents to review the FAFSA website at www.fafsa.gov.
In addition, bring as many of these documents as possible:
- Your social security number
- Your driver’s license
- Most recent year W2 Forms and other records of money earned for both you and your parents
- Most recent year Federal Income Tax Return for both you and your parents
- Records of child support paid or received in the most recent year
- Your current business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stock, bond, and other investment records
- Your FSA ID number
