Kearsley boys compete to be crowned ‘Mr. Kearsley’
The winner of this year’s Mr. Kearsley, the annual talent show, was junior Sebastian Young, who won over the judges with his rendition of Frank Sinatra’s 1964 hit, “Fly Me to the Moon.”
The talent show was Wednesday, Oct. 12. It is put on by, and used to raise funds for, the cheer team.
Senior Josh Parker came in second place for playing the piano and singing “Redemption,” by Bob Marley.
In addition, senior Neil Kagerer won the award for best dressed.
Parker was enthusiastic about getting on stage and performing for the audience.
“I get excited when I get to go up on stage and sing,” Parker said. “It’s nice to perform for people who’ll actually listen.”
Parker’s rendition of “Redemption” was perfect. It was full of emotion and he placed a lot of effort into learning the song on piano.
Parker’s skills brought “Redemption” to the audience in a way that not even Bob Marley himself could replicate.
Overall, the contestants who had the courage to get up on stage performed well.
I especially enjoyed Kagerer’s hairstyle tutorial and Jacobi Wright’s performance of Adele’s hit “Love in the Dark.”
Chris Madison’s performance of “He Is” by Ghost opened the show and set the bar high for the other performers. Madison really pulled it off and took the audience by storm.
However, I’d have to say one of my favorite performances of the night was when transfer students “Kaleb” and “Cameron” (Seniors Camille Clarambeau and Kaitlyn Alburtus) got up on stage and danced to the song “Fergalicious” by Fergie.
I adored how full of energy the duo was when performing.
Overall, the Mr. Kearsley contest was very enjoyable, and I’m glad I came to watch such talented Kearsley students show off their abilities.
