Powder puff court represented well by juniors
The 2016 junior powder puff court consist of five juniors.
The junior court is represented by Jonathon Conley, Thomas Plunkey, Malik Davis, Teven Thompson-Farrior, and Gavin Etson.
Jonathon Conley
Conley is 16 years old and lives with his parents Mr. and Mrs. John and Tina Conley.
Conley enjoys going to Port Huron in the summer and playing sand volleyball with friends.
He also plays basketball and spends a majority of his time at Planet Fitness.
Working out has always been a passion of Conley’s, and he thinks it always will be.
Conley spends a great deal of time with him family.
“My family is a huge part of my life,” Conley said.
He is the youngest of three: two sisters and one brother.
Conley was honored to be on court.
“I’m happy that my class chose me to represent the junior class,” said Conley.
Conley was escorted by his girlfriend, junior Makalia Jenkins, at the pep assembly.
Malik Davis
Davis is 17 years old and lives with his mother Ms. Rosie Garcia, stepfather Mr. John Williams, and brothers Sandreiko Williams and Gahmod Adams-Lee.
Davis has been playing football for four years now, and he said he has always had a love for the game.
Playing in his first year of varsity football, Davis is a defensive lineman.
When Davis is not playing football he enjoys hanging out with friends.
Davis said that making court showed him something he did not know.
“Being on court is a great feeling,” Davis said. “It showed that people around the school like me. I’m honored I was chosen.”
Davis was escorted by junior Maria Mascorro.
Gavin Etson
Etson is 16 years old and lives with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Sean and Christina Etson and his little brother Gabe Etson.
Etson has been playing football for six years and loves everything about the sport.
He has played wide receiver and outside linebacker on varsity.
Football is a big part of his life, and Etson has been playing high school football since his freshman year.
To Etson, making court meant he was a role model.
“I feel like being in court means that your fellow classmates think of you as a role model, someone they look up too and that’s a great feeling,” Etson said.
Etson will be escorted by junior Anastasia Cummings.
Tommy Plunkey
Plunkey is 17 years old and lives with his mom, Ms. Angie Tomczyk, and little brother Micheal Plunkey.
Plunkey has been playing football for eight years and has been a varsity running back for two years.
“Football has always been a passion of mine,” he said. “I never knew I could have such a love for a sport.”
Plunkey also enjoys playing sand volleyball at a beach in Port Huron with friends when he has spare time.
Plunkey has a 20-year-older brother, Russell Plunkey, who is currently in the Air Force.
“My brother is a hard working man, who I look up too,” Plunkey said.
Plunkey was honored to be on court but said he did not expect it.
“I am happy I made court, but I truly did not expect to be representing the junior class,” he said.
Plunkey was escorted by Dylan Clark.
Teven Thompson-Farrior
Thompson-Farrior is 16 years old and lives with his dad Mr. Derrick Farrior.
Thompson-Farrior has one older sister Trya and little sister Tatem.
Thompson-Farrior has been playing football for four years, and this is his first year on varsity.
He has played offensive tackle and end.
When he is not playing football, he likes to work out and hang out with friends.
Thompson-Farrior was surprised when he found out he was on court.
“I was completely shocked I made court,” he said. “I did not think so many people would vote for me.”
He was escorted by junior Mallory Teed.
