Girls' Basketball defeats Mt. Morris

The girls’ basketball team defeated  Mt. Morris 55-52 on the road Dec. 9.

Coach Matt Gildner said the team stepped up and worked hard to earn the victory.

“It was a good test for the girls after being down early and fighting to get back into the game,” Gilder said. “Offensively, we were more selective with our shots in the second quarter, and defensively we didn’t allow the uncontested shots.”

Sophomore Brandi Morgan led the team with 18 points. Junior Emalie Lewis scored 11 points.

Sophomore Brittney Dick led the team defensively.  She had four steals.

Junior Diane Bond pulled down six rebounds and also finished the game with nine points.

Gildner believes these girls played a great game.

“Brandi (Morgan) did a nice job of finding her shots, Emalie (Lewis) was a strong presence inside, and Diane (Bond) stabilizes our team,” Gildner said.
