Freshman Kyle Reese worries about first semester exams. He plans on studying so that he does not get poor grades.
As exams draw near, students are having mixed reactions.
Freshmen like Kyle Reese are worried about the first semester exams.
Reese said that he was worried about exams.
He said, “I might get a bad grade that will bring my grade down and cause me to fail.”
Reese’s first impression of high school was that it was going to be difficult.
“I thought it would be really hard, and that there would be a lot of homework,” Reese said. “But now I think it’s easy, and you will get good grades if you do your homework.”
Other freshmen, like Olivia Dunsmore, are excited to almost be done with their first semester of high school.
“I am (excited) because of summer,” Dunsmore said. “But I’m not because the freshman teachers are a lot of fun.”
Dunsmore’s first impression of high school was that it was “as bad as the movies.”
“At first I was nervous,” Dunsmore said. “I was just worried that something was going to happen. Now that I’m here, it’s not as bad.”
Seniors are having mixed feelings as well.
Many seniors have been a part of Kearsley since kindergarten, and leaving high school is a bittersweet experience for them.
Alex Driskill, senior, said that leaving high school makes him sad “just because it went by so fast.”
Driskill said that he remembers what it was like to be a freshman facing his first exams.
Since the high school GPA is on a student’s permanent academic record, Driskill said that “taking exams was very stressful.”
“It was the first GPA that we had,” Driskill said.
Other seniors, like Dalton Nofs, are anxious for the school year to end.
“I’m excited to be done with high school,” Nofs said, “because I get to go to college, where the rules are less strict than they are in high school.”
Nofs also had some advice for freshmen and their first high school exams.
“I think they should be kind of worried about their exams,” Nofs said. “They should study for the exams that they think will be hard.”
