For the month of April, senior Noah Jankowski has been chosen as the Flint Metro League Kiwanis Male Scholar-Athlete, putting him in the running for a scholarship.

For this scholarship, a male and female athlete are picked monthly at the Flint Metro League athletics directors meeting by all of the directors.

During May, the overall Flint Area Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be announced, who will win the scholarship.

Jankowski is “very excited” about being nominated for the scholarship.

“I am honored to have been chosen as the Kiwanis Male Scholar-Athlete, especially since the Metro League  has so many great athletes to choose from,” Jankowski said.

He has been very active in sports and clubs during his high school years, especially by playing on the baseball team.

As a sophomore, he earned second team honors in baseball and as a junior he earned first-team All-League honors.

Both seasons he was also named to the first-team All-District team.

Last year he also helped the team to to their 19-8 record.

Mr. Paul Gaudard, athletics director, believes that Jankowski is qualified for this scholarship.

“I definitely believe Noah is deserving,” Gaudard said. “Noah is a hard worker and is very dedicated to both his academics and the game of baseball.”

In addition to his involvement in baseball, Jankowski participates in the National Honor Society, DECA, and still finds time to volunteer.

He is ranked within the top 20 for academics in the Senior Class with a 3.9 GPA.

Jankowki is “very proud” of his academic performance.

“I have worked very hard in high school to keep good grades and attendance,” Jankowski said. “I know how to balance a tough and busy schedule.”
