At first glance, Brendan Evenson is an average high school student. However, there is more to Evenson than meets the eye.

At 5 feet 7 inches, Evenson is thin and muscular. He is calm and collected in the most serious situations.

At a young age, Evenson’s family lost their home.

“It made me realize that anything can happen at any time,” Evenson said, “so you should always be aware and stay on top of things.”

There are many things that have had large impacts on Evenson’s life, such as sports. They have shaped him into the person he is today.

Evenson has played football for 10 years.

He said playing football helps him build on his “mental discipline.” It also has helped to teach him that if he really wants something he has to work for it.

Evenson has been on the swim team for five years but has been diving for only four years.

He enjoys diving more than swimming because of the increased recognition he receives from it.

Evenson practices before school for an hour and a half three days a week, and for two hours every day after school.

After graduation, Evenson plans to attend Saginaw Valley State University for a degree in mechanical engineering.

He would like to further his football career while there, and he is considering whether or not he should continue to swim and dive.

Evenson spends his free time on other hobbies, such as playing the drums and keyboard. After two years of playing guitar, he began to grow fonder of the drums and the ability to create his own beat.

Evenson has a personality as unique as his interests. He is often perceived as a good friend. He feels that this is because of his openness and willingness to listen and help others with any problems they may have.

Many people who meet Evenson have said that he comes off as cocky. This is something that Evenson agrees with. He believes that he seems this way because of his athleticism.

An easy-going person, Evenson was calm and appeared to be confident in every answer he gave during his interview.

Evenson excels in school and many see him as intelligent.

He said that he makes it through school by simply being “optimistic about things.” He also said that he pushes himself in everything he does in order to accomplish his goals.

Ms. Kari Shaw has Evenson in senior English. She believes that he shows extreme determination in his work.

“He is the only person I have seen in a long time that marches in band and plays varsity football,” Shaw said, “and that says a lot about his dedication.”

People that have seen how Evenson handles his time have described him as responsible.

Senior Zach Groulx said, “He shows determination in everything he does.”

According to Groulx, Evenson is well prepared for band every day, even though he has daily swim practice, a job, and an AP class.

Groulx also said he is entertained when hanging around with Evenson.

“We have fun and always have a good time,” Groulx said.
