Golf prepares to tee off the season
Mr. Andy Nester, golf coach, anticipates a successful season with potential filling up the courses.
Tryouts started Monday, March 14. Nester said one spot is open, unless others have the ability to move up, because there are already five returning players that will add a lot of strength and talent to the team.
Evan Flood, who anchored the team during his entire high school career, is one golfer Nester will miss on his team.
Nester is excited because many other schools’ successful golfers have graduated, upping the Hornets’ chance of beating teams such as Flushing, Fenton, and Swartz Creek.
Nester said he is worried that his golfers will reach a comfort zone, like they have in the past, and stop being “hungry” and aggressive when playing the sport.
Devoted to the sport of golf, Nester has been playing for 21 years and coaching for at least 10.
“Golf is a great sport,” Nester said. “It is life long and teaches as much about the character of an individual as it does team competition.”
