Girls’ bowling places first, second in singles tournaments over the weekend
The girls’ bowling team took first place in the Flint Metro League Singles Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 20.
All seven girls made it into the top 16, and five were able to qualify in the top eight.
Freshman Alexis Roof took first place in the tournament, while seniors Alexxa Flood and Hannah Ploof took third and fourth, respectively, after Flood beat Ploof.
The Hornets were then able to place second in the Holly Singles Tournament on Sunday, Feb. 21.
Six of the seven were able to make the cut to the top 16, but only Flood and Ploof were able to advance into the top eight.
Ploof was eliminated after a close game, while Flood managed to win and advance to the finals, after striking out in the final frame.
Flood needed three strikes to close out the 10th frame and win the final, but was unable to pull it off and ended up finishing second overall.
The Hornets’ next event will be the Best of the Best Tournament on Monday, Feb. 22.
