Dias signs with Indiana Tech to play soccer
Senior Brevin Dias signed his National Letter of Intent to play men’s soccer at the Indiana Institute of Technology.
Dias is excited to be playing for the Warriors.
“I look forward to a new challenge and trying to get better,” Dias said. “That way I can compete for playing time.”
Dias has been awarded honorable mention for the Metro League twice. He also won second team for the league and has made an All-District team.
Mr. David Bokhart, men’s soccer coach at Indiana Tech, feels that Dias will be a positive addition to the team.
“His goals and interests match that of Indiana Tech,” Bokhart said, “and we are excited to work with him.”
Although there were other colleges that he was considering, such as Marygrove College and Defiance College, Dias chose Indiana Tech because he said it felt like home.
Indiana Tech is located in Fort Wayne, Ind., which is about a three-hour drive from Flint.
“I chose Indiana Tech because it has a beautiful campus and everyone was very nice there,” Dias said.
Indiana Tech is part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, a governing body of small collegiate athletics programs.
In addition, the Warriors compete in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, which is made up of 12 schools from Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.
Bokhart said the Warriors like Dias because of his skills and work ethic.
“He will add a good attacking mindset to our reserves team in the fall,” Bokhart said. “He has a positive demeanor and is highly motivated.”
Freshman Mickeely Dias, Brevin’s sister, is delighted for him.
“I think it is a really great opportunity for him because he gets to play college soccer, which he loves so much,” Mickeely said.
Dias said his family, coaches, friends, and senior Carryn White helped him and supported him through his decision.
