Microsoft vs. Sony is an ongoing console war
With Christmas coming up, there will be plenty of sales and plenty of people buying gifts for each other.
One gift many teens always ask for, is the newest game console or games. But you should always remember to look up reviews before you buy.
If you can think way back to when you were younger, the majority of people owned a PlayStation 2 and very rarely did you see the original first generation Xbox.
Then when the second generation, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, came out there was an ongoing debate of which system was better. This debate went on for years even when the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 became outdated.
Now, with both next generation consoles out for two years there is still people questioning which one would be the best console to get, Xbox One or PlayStation 4.
There are plenty of reviews online for them, but a lot of them are biased because whichever console the authors are reviewing, the company most likely paid them to say good things about it.
When buying a new gaming system, you have to look at the specs of it, not just which games are exclusive to it.
Microsoft’s goal when developing and releasing the Xbox One was to make it more than just gaming.
They wanted it to be an average family entertainment system.
By achieving this goal, they partnered up with a lot of big streaming services, such as Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and Twitch. They have also partnered up with some cable companies such as Xfinity, AT&T, and Direct TV.
They also enabled a new feature called split screen, where you plug in your HDMI cable into your cable box and you can stream live television and play video games at the same time.
Although Microsoft has all these great features for the Xbox One, Sony’s PS4 also has these same features.
The PS4 has personalized content, which gives it the ability to learn about your preferences and your likes and dislikes, which allows you to discover content that is already pre-loaded and ready to go on your console.
One thing that was a popular feature everybody wanted was playing your game as it was downloading. The old generation consoles (Xbox 360 and PS3) would not allow you to play any game or the game you are downloading until it finished downloading.
Even though the Xbox One and Ps4 both share this feature, it seems to run better on PS4.
When it comes to graphics, both of these consoles have beautiful graphics. But when it comes down to it, the PS4 does have the better graphics.
Both Microsoft and Sony decided to make a semi-custom processor. Because of this, the Xbox One and PS4’s graphics are similar, but the PS4’s GPU is larger.
In my opinion, I would get both consoles, but many people who had the old generation consoles seemed to switch.
Ironically, many PS3 players went to the Xbox One, while a lot of Xbox 360 players went to PS4.
Senior Brennen Colley switched consoles.
“I use to play nothing but Xbox, but I got a PS4 on Black Friday and I really enjoy the PS4 more than the Xbox One,” Colley said. “I think the graphics are a little better on the PS4.”
