Mr. Andy Nester’s AP Government class adopted a family for Christmas this year.

It is that time of year to put up lights, decorate a Christmas tree, and buy gifts for family and friends.

But not everyone is fortunate enough to afford these Christmas festivities.

That is why Mr. Andy Nester’s Advanced Placement Government class has decided to adopt a less-fortunate family this Christmas.

Along with the parents, the family includes one boy and two girls.

Each student in the class has pitched in $20 in order to buy gifts for the family, reaching a class total of $500.

The students have also divided themselves into groups to plan what to get for each member of the family.

With the collected money, they have bought clothes and toys for the children and even some gift cards for the parents.

While some students were responsible for making the gift purchases, others were put in charge of wrapping them.

The class will turn the gifts over to the employees of the administration building by Tuesday, Dec. 15, who will then be in charge of getting the gifts to the family before Christmas.

The students also took a class photo and made a Christmas card to give to the family.

Nester is pleased with how the class sponsored a family.

“My sixth hour has expressed the good feelings they each have about taking the initiative, time, planning, and delivering on our promise to do something nice for somebody,” Nester said. ” That makes me happy and proud of them for following through.”
