K-Motion ready to hip, hop with new dances this year
As basketball season approaches, the dance team’s season does too.
K-Motion will be performing during halftime at all of the basketball home games.
With a new and improved team, the girls are excited to show off their moves, including freshman Heather McNeil.
“Even though it is my first season with K-Motion, I am very confident that everyone will do well,” McNeil said. “We have been working hard to be the best that we all can be.”
In order to prepare for their upcoming season, the team has been practicing two to three times a week since the beginning of June.
K-Motion also attended a dance camp over the summer, which was held at Oakland University and lasted three days.
At the camp, the team learned a variety of new dances, including some that were hip-hop and jazz.
The girls also worked on skills and enjoyed team-building activities while at the university.
“Ranging from going to camp, dancing in the parade, holding the kiddie clinic, and having mandatory practices, the team and I have been doing a lot to improve our skills for the upcoming season,” McNeil said.
The first home game K-Motion will be dancing at is on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
Senior Aniya Hightower is excited to start dancing at the basketball games.
“I am really pumped for the upcoming season,” Hightower said. “It is going to be a blast.”
