With Black Friday kicking off the shopping season, it is important to remain safe while having fun also.

Following these simple tips can ensure a safe and fun shopping season:

1) Get a lot of rest.

If shopping on Thanksgiving, be sure to take a nice nap in between Thanksgiving dinner and shopping so you do not miss any deals. If you go out on Black Friday morning, make sure you are well rested so you are on your best game. Shopping can be extremely exhausting if went about the wrong way.

2) Do not go alone.

Find a shopping buddy, or even a shopping group, and stick together at all times. If you do decide to split up to get the best deals and cover the most ground, be sure no one is ever alone and that each group can be reached at all times. Come up with a time and a place to meet up and then reevaluate how much longer is needed to shop.

3) Have a game plan.

Do not go into shopping with a blind eye. Create a shopping list of everything you want to get for each person and where your items can be found. This will ensure that you will use your time wisely and that you will get the best deals by getting to the stores quicker.

4) Keep an eye on your money.

Set a budget for each person you are buying for or each place you will be shopping so you do not blow all of your money in one place. Also, prevent keeping your money in your coat pocket or the back pocket of  your jeans so your money does not fall out or get stolen.

5) Be kind to those around you.

Keep in mind that everyone is there for the same reason: shopping. Pushing and shoving is a given when there are many people in one place, but mind your manners and say “excuse me,” “sorry,” and “thank you.” Also keep in mind that the workers are sacrificing their holiday for you, so be extra kind to them.

Be sure to follow these tips. Mind your surroundings and have a safe shopping season!
