Football falls to Fenton

The football team lost to Fenton 53-22 on Friday, Sept. 25.

Junior Darrion Younger, one of the Hornets’ top wide recievers, had to fill in at quarterback since senior quarterback Antonio St. John has been out with an injury this season and his back up, sophomore Tommy Plunkey, broke a finger in the game on Friday, Sept 11.

Plunkey played through the injury initially but aggravated it on Sept. 18, sidelining him for now.

Younger split time with junior Chandler Ford at quarterback. The two combined to go 15-for-28.

Younger also rushed for 39 yards on 13 carries with one touchdown.

Senior wide reciever Matthew Parkinson excelled as the return man, taking one kick back for a touchdown.

Junior Demonte Bullock led the charge for the Hornets’ defense. He had five solo tackles, one of which was for a loss. He also had an assisted tackle for a loss.

The Tigers’ defense performed well, forcing three safeties and four interceptions.

Fenton’s Brandon Muma led his defense, snagging two interceptions.

Quarterback Josh Czarnota led his Tigers to three passing touchdowns, going 14-for-23 for 159 yards.

Kearsley is now 1-4 on the season, and winless in the Metro League.

The team plays next at Swartz Creek on Friday, Oct. 2.
