Five study tips from a junior to help you pass final exams
Finals are coming up fast and many students I know struggle to find ways to study correctly. Here are my top five study tips that help me study more effectively.
1.) Ask for Help
Be persistent. If you are not sure about something then ask, it is better to get an understanding about the topic you are studying than to not know what you are studying for.
Try and get into the habit of explaining whatever it is you are studying in your own words so that you understand the topic more.
2.) Take Breaks
Planning your time efficiently is important so you do not get bored with the subject you are studying and want to quit earlier than you are supposed to.
Set alarms on your phone or watch (if you have one) to keep track of time for the subject you are studying.
Always remember to take breaks, and give your mind time to rest. It can be overwhelming when studying for a class for a long period of time.
3.) Have a nice snack
While on break, stop and ransack your cupboards for a healthy snack. Good nutrition keeps your mind clear and stable, and a clear and stable brain could result in an A on your next exam.
4.) Review and revise
It does not hurt to review your notes and refresh your memory. I often have a friend or a family member quiz me on the subject. Being quizzed makes me feel more confident in the topic I am studying for, and it also helps me get a clearer idea of what I need to focus on more.
5.) Listen to music
Believe it or not, I listen to music often while studying for a test. I find it easier to stay on task with what I am studying for instead of getting bored and giving up.
Although the effect of music can differ from person to person, music might not be as helpful to me as it is to you.
Every person is different, and my tips might not be as effective for you as they are to me. These are just suggestions that you are welcome to try out while studying for an upcoming test.
Study hard, and good luck.
