After high school, are you going to want to get a job?  Teen Quest will help you do that.

But what exactly is Teen Quest?

Teen Quest is an after-school program that helps teach students from ages 14-19  how to get a job by teaching them how to fill out applications and make resumes, how to do interviews and much more.

One thing Teen Quest focuses on are student skills. They help us discover what skills we have that can help us get jobs in the future. They have us name three skills every day at random to make sure we memorize them and aren’t stumped during an interview.

Another thing they teach us is filler words, what they are and why we shouldn’t use them. A filler word is a word you put into a sentence to fill space, such as “um.”

We don’t want to say filler words because it makes us look unprofessional and like we don’t know what we’re doing, so they get all of us to yell “filler words” when we hear it.

Teen Quest also taught us how to fill out resumes, which are very useful in life since you will need one for every job you get. We also learned how to fill out a job application.

Team-building activities are a daily occurrence as well. This helps us work better in group settings because in a work environment you can’t choose who you work with, so you have to know how to work with anyone.

I interviewed people about their favorite part of Teen Quest and I got some interesting responses.

Amaya Poindexter commented on why they enjoyed Teen Quest.

“I joined Teen Quest because it’s a fun opportunity to learn how to get a job,” Pointdexter told me.

Zachary Hanson also spoke out about Teen Quest.

“It has been fun. There have been lots of games and it’s a fun learning experience,” Hanson beamed.

Katie Steel talked about why she joined: “I joined to make new friends and learn how to fill out a resume,” Steel exclaimed.
