Junior Claire Ouellette gets greeted at home plate after she hit a home run Monday, April 22, against Clio.

The softball team was in action Monday, April 22, sweeping Clio 8-5 and 7-6.

In game one, pitcher Isabella Easton allowed six hits.

Four Hornets had two hits in the opener. They were seniors Halle Paris and Easton, junior Alexis Echols, and sophomore Emma Cronkright.

In the nightcap, Junior Claire Ouellette hit a walk-off, 3-run home run for the victory. She believed Clio was a tough opponent.

“Going in, we knew that this would be one of our tougher games so far,” Ouellette said. “I am proud of how far we have come and how hard we fought to beat them. We are all glad we won both games.”

Parish led the team offensively, going 3-for-4 from the plate.

Senior Jacee Sword and freshman Isabella Roberts each had two hits.

Echols is pleased with the results.

“It was a good win and really exciting,” Echols said. “We knew they were a tougher team with hot bats and we were gonna have to bring a good defense.”

The Hornets will host Owosso on Thursday, April 25.
