Golf hopes to improve skills
Golf opens its season on April 12 with the Lapeer Tune-Up tournament at Metamora Golf Country Club.
Senior Tyler Gronauer expects his team to step up this season and play competitively.
“This season I want us to raise in the standings,” Gronauer said. “In years past, I think Kearsley golf hasn’t really been a force in the Metro League. This year I want us to be competitive. I want the team to grow not only as individuals but also as golfers.”
Gronauer hopes to see self-improvement this season as well.
“Personally, I’m always trying to lower my score,” Gronauer said. “Whether it’s shaving strokes through putting or fairway play, it’s a game of constant improvement.”
In addition, Senior Stephen White is looking forward to his last season of playing golf at KHS.
“I am hoping to have a better record this season compared to last,” White said. “I’m excited, especially because it is a team of seven seniors and (they are) all people that I know personally or played with before. These boys and Nester mean more than just a team to me and have taught me so much about the game and about character.”
Coach Andy Nester hopes to grow from last season’s faults.
“We had some disappointments last year that we hope to build upon,” Nester said. “I believe that we can build those skill-set deficits to meet our goals.”
