Girls basketball lost to Detroit Edison on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

On Tuesday, Feb. 26, the girls basketball team lost to Detroit Edison 78-46 at home.

Senior Mackenzie Ramey led the team with 11 points.

Seniors Zaria Mitchner and Diamond Pate, along with junior Jakeira Wash, all added nine points.

Mitchner said that the outcome of the game was not expected.

“We all played hard and did all we could because we are a fighting team and don’t give up easily,” Mitchner said. “No matter the ranking or the height, we play Kearsley basketball.”

Mitchner said the team is excited for the upcoming MHSAA district tournament, along with the possibility of moving far into the state tournament.

“We are very excited for the upcoming tournament,” Mitchner said.  “We have the ability to win our district and even go farther than districts. We are anticipating winning at states, and if we can, we will.”

The girls are now 14-2 league and 17-3 overall.

They will start their district tournament against Davison on Monday, March 4, at Lapeer.
