Girls basketball conquers three league teams

Over the cold week the girls basketball team defeated three Metro League teams: Brandon, Clio, and Flushing.

The Hornets are now 9-2 overall with an 8-1 league record. They are tied for first in the Metro League with Fenton.

Flushing

On Tuesday, Jan. 22, the Hornets had a tremendous win over Flushing 56-50.

Ramey accumulated 24 points in the game.

Mitchner also contributed 15 points. She is excited about the team’s improvements.

“So far everything has been great,” Mitchner said. “We have been playing our basketball up-tempo, fast, and patient. We are now getting together and playing more as a team.”

Clio

On Thursday, Jan. 17, the Hornets defeated the Mustangs 73-35 at home.

Freshman Saniaa Walker led the game with 20 points.

Ramey assisted in the victory with 14 points.

Brandon

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, the girls won 53-6 against Brandon at home.

Senior Makenzie Ramey led the game with 15 points.

Junior Sydney Walker chimed in with 10 points and senior Zaria Mitchner tagged in with nine points.

The Hornets will host Holly on Tuesday, Jan 29.
