A young boys basketball team wants to improve its defense
Boys basketball opens its season Tuesday, Dec. 4, hosting LakeVille.
Members of the team, including senior Saif Dawan, expect the season to be successful.
“I’m expecting to have some fun this year and play hard,” Dawan said. “Our athleticism is a strength. We should be able to play hard through the whole game. We have a young team, so lack of experience could be a weakness. I feel like we’ll have a good season and play well together.”
Coach Paul Adas hopes to see “improvement in defense” with his team this season.
Sophomore Braylon Silvas agrees with Adas and is looking forward to improving the teams’ record by strengthening its defense.
“I would love to have a winning record and do well in playoffs,” Silvas said. “I want to push to have the best defense in the league. Defense wins championships.”
Silvas hopes to see the Hornets work together toward a common goal this season.
“We are young, but we are not using that as an excuse,” Silvas said. “We are an athletic team that can do big things this season. Our team needs to improve on being one, playing as one, and most importantly, having fun, because when we have fun we play really good basketball.”
