Boys track splits first league meets

The boys track and field team hosted a double-dual meet with Flushing and Brandon on Wednesday, April 25, splitting their meets.

Senior Taveon Harris came in second in the 100-meter dash, sprinting the race in 11.31 seconds.

In the 200 dash, senior Tre’Ron Griffin came in third with a time of 24.21. The performance is his best of the season.

Griffin took second in the 400 dash with a time of 54.44, another season best.

In the 800, sophomore Raydoffa Braziel came in second with a time of 2:11.03.

Braziel also took second in the 1600 run with a time of 4:53.23.

Freshman Braylon Silvas and senior Gavin Etson took first and second, respectively, in the 110 high hurdles. Silvas ran the event in 17.16 seconds, a personal record, while Etson ran the event in a season best 17.68 seconds.

Silvas and Etson also took second and third, respectively, in the 300 hurdles. Silvas set another personal record at 44.43 seconds and Etson set another season record at 46.00 seconds.

The pair also took first and third in the long jump. Silvas leaped 20 feet, 1 inch, a personal record, and Etson set a season record at 18-6.

Juniors Eddie Harris and Dylan Buschur took first and third in the shot put, throwing 42-2 and 38-8 inches, respectively.

In the discus, Buschur and Harris took second and third, respectively, throwing 114-9 and 113-3.

The team is now 1-1 on the season and will take on Owosso and Clio on Monday, April 30.
