Boys track places fifth at Frankenmuth

The boys track and field team placed fifth with 51.33 points at the Frankenmuth Marco Marcet Invitational on Friday, April 20.

Flushing won the invitational with 91.83 points.
Corunna was second (85.5), and Saginaw Heritage finished third (74).

Senior Taveon Harris placed first in the 100-meter dash, setting a personal record at 10.94 seconds.

He is within striking distance of the event record at Kearsley, set at 10.6 seconds by Greg Thompson in 1993.

Harris also set a personal record in the 200 dash, taking first with a time of 22.69 seconds.

In the 400 dash, Harris placed second with a season best 52.18 seconds.

Braylon Silvas, freshman, placed sixth in the long jump with a jump of 18 feet, 11.75 inches.

Silvas also set a personal record in the 300 hurdles, finishing with a time of 44.66 seconds.

In the 110 intermediate hurdles, Silvas and senior Gavin Etson placed sixth and seventh respectively.

Silvas ran the event in 17.64 seconds, a personal record, and Etson ran the event in 17.82 seconds, his best performance this year.

In discus, junior Eddie Harris threw 126-7, which is his best of the year.

Harris also threw 44-1.50 inches in the shot put.

The 800 relay team (Ashtyn Cohoon, Malik Davis, Matt McGinnis, Carlos Macedo) placed seventh with a time of 1:39.08.

The four also placed seventh in the 400 relay.

Senior Philip Stites tied for eighth in the pole vault with a height of 9-00, a season record.

The team will host a meet with Brandon and Flushing on Wednesday, April 25.
