Freshman Kody Easton approaches the pitchers mound at the doubleheader Monday, March 26, against Carman-Ainsworth.

The baseball team started off the 2017-2018 season with one win and a loss against Carman-Ainsworth on Monday, March 26.

During the doubleheader, the Hornets first fell to the Cavaliers  3-2.

Kearsley then made a comeback, defeating Carman-Ainsworth in the nightcap 3-2.

Junior Dustin Bennett struck out 13 batters in the first game, pitching a nice game for the Hornets.

“I think our team played well starting off the season,” Bennett said. “I think our hard work will pay off.”

During the second game, junior Max Stimac hit in the winning run in the last inning, bringing home freshman Kody Easton.

Stimac feels good about his team’s performance.

“I am really proud of the way we played,” Stimac said. “It’s a great way to get the season going.”
