Hockey falls to Swartz Creek/Clio/Flushing in a 13-goal contest

United hosted Swartz Creek/Clio/Flushing on Wednesday, Feb. 14, losing 7-6.

The team consists of players from Brandon, Kearsley, Lake Fenton, and Holly.

The first period was tough for United, but the team battled back in the second period to tie the game at five goals apiece.

United got edged out in the third period, though, being outscored 2-1 and losing the game.

Lake Fenton senior Drew Hobson scored two goals and one assist for the team. One of his goals came on the power play.

Dru Sweers, a Kearsley senior, scored a goal and received two assists. He remains the team’s leading scorer with 30 goals and 23 assists.

Lake Fenton senior Alec Copeland scored two power-play goals for the team.

Senior Logan Henry, who attends Holly, assisted on two goals for United.

Holly freshman Colby Polutanovich, Lake Fenton freshman Macgregor Hepburn, and Lake Fenton senior Lochlan Hepburn each assisted on a goal.

The team is now 9-10, with one overtime loss.

United will visit Swan Valley on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
