United takes the thunder out of Bay Area

United was active over the weekend, beating the visiting Bay Area Thunder 7-4 at the Polar Palace.

The team consists of players from Kearsley, Brandon, Holly, and Lake Fenton.

United took control of the game early, taking the lead with an unassisted goal by Kearsley senior Dru Sweers.

Sweers scored the first goal of the second period as well, assisted by goaltender Tyler Keller, a Kearsley junior.

Kearsley junior Trevor Keller and Holly senior Logan Henry assisted on the goal.

Colby Polutanovich, a Holly freshman, got on the board with a short-handed goal, assisted by Sweers.

Sweers scored his fourth goal of the game at 14:31 in the period, adding to his impressive point total.

The goal was assisted by Brandon sophomore Noah Bolton.

United opened the third period by improving its lead to 6-1 with another Sweers goal. He was assisted by Lake Fenton senior Drew Hobson.

The Thunder cut the lead to 6-2 with an even-strength goal, but Lake Fenton senior Aidan Flick scored his ninth goal of the season to continue the United domination.

Bay Area scored two goals late in the third, but it was not enough as United won by three.

Tyler Keller had an impressive night in the net, posting an .852 save percentage.
