Hockey dominates Southgate Anderson

United hosted Southgate Anderson on Saturday, Feb. 3, winning 9-1.

The team swept the season series as they won 8-0 in the first meeting.

United is comprised of players from Kearsley, Brandon, Holly, and Lake Fenton.

Lake Fenton senior Aidan Flick scored United’s first goal, assisted by Lake Fenton senior Lochlan Hepburn.

Hepburn and Holly freshman Colby Polutanovich scored the next two goals for United, assisted by Lake Fenton freshman Macgregor Hepburn and Flick, respectively.

Flick scored the final goal of the first period, giving United the 4-0 lead.

Southgate Anderson capitalized early in the second period to cut the lead down to a three-goal margin.

Kearsley senior Dru Sweers responded with a goal of his own, assisted by Lake Fenton senior Drew Hobson.

Sweers scored an unassisted goal soon after to give United a 6-1 lead. Holly senior Logan Henry also scored an unassisted goal 45 seconds later.

Capping his second hat trick of the year, Sweers scored again, assisted by Hobson and Polutanovich.

Hobson scored the only goal of the third period, assisted by Polutanovich and Sweers.

Sweers remains atop the scoring sheet with 22 goals and 16 assists.

The team is now 7-9, with one overtime loss.

United will play against Lapeer on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Polar Palace Arena.
