Quiz bowl dominates in Metro League opener

Quiz bowl opened its Metro League season with victories against Swartz Creek and Clio.

The matches took place at Flushing High School on Wednesday, Jan. 31.

The team was 11-5 in Genesee Academic League play during the fall season, and faced familiar opponents in Swartz Creek and Clio.

Sophomores Chris Moyer, Cameron Gohs, Connor Earegood, Grant Sterling, and junior Tyler Jamison make up the team.

The Hornets defeated Swartz Creek in their first match 345-250.

They waited through a bye-round and faced Clio in their final match of the day.

Moyer, Gohs, and Earegood led the team in scoring for a 530-205 win.

Moyer, who is the team’s captain, believes the team will improve this season.

“It feels good (to win),” Moyer said. “It shows we have been putting in effort to do better.”

The team will take on Linden, Owosso, and Oxford on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
