Varner leads boys bowling with 289 to lasso the Mustangs

The boys bowling team knocked off Clio 20-10 on Saturday, Jan. 6.

During the first Baker game, the Hornets started off slowly, resulting in a loss with a score 166-194.

However, during the second Baker game the Hornets pulled through, winning with a score 169-160.

After the two Baker games, Kearsley was behind 6-4 for the match.

Leading the Hornets in the first team game was senior Sethan Varner who scored 10 continous strikes but ended the game leaving the No. 4 pin, scoring a total of 289.

Following the path set by Varner were junior Kyle Langworthy with a 216, senior Chase Gebhardt throwing 211, and, lastly, junior Nathan Maxwell bowling a 193.

After that game, Kearsley moved into the lead 12-7.

In the second individual game, Gebhardt led the Hornets with a 245, Langworthy threw a 225, senior Jake Reid scored a 209, and Maxwell rolled a 190.

Kearsley’s record is now 5-1. The team sit in second place in the Metro League behind Swartz Creek (6-0).

The Hornets will face off next against Flushing (4-1) on Saturday, Jan. 13 at Holly Lanes.
