The boys bowling team lost its season opener to Swartz Creek, Saturday, Dec. 2.

The boys bowling team put up a good fight against Swartz Creek, losing 16-14 Saturday, Dec. 2.

Leading the Hornets was junior Kyle Langworthy, bowling a 248 and a 203 in the individual games.

Coach Bart Rutledge said the Hornets had the potential to win.

“I think we had a chance to win and let it slip away,” Rutledge said. “However, that is the kind of match that we will close out with experience.”

Other top performers were senior Chase Gebhardt, shooting a 235 and 203, and senior Seth Varner, who rolled a 203 game.

The Hornets won the first Baker game against Swartz Creek 199-191.

Shortly after that, they bowled a close match, eventually falling in the second Baker game to the Dragons 207-200.

Kearsley put up a strong fight against the Dragons.

The Hornets are traveling to Owosso to take on the Trojans in their second match of the season Monday, Dec. 4.
