Spicer Orchards Farm Market, in Fenton, allows visitors to pick their own apples and raspberries.

When the fall season comes around, autumn-themed activities are bound to pop up around the community.

People look forward to eating doughnuts, drinking apple cider, and carving pumpkins.

Instead of buying these things from their local supermarket, people choose to visit an apple orchard to revel in the autumnal spirit.

Junior Madeline Raysin recently spent one of her fall afternoons at Spicer Orchards with her close friends.

Spicer Orchards offers many activities for visitors, including raspberry and apple picking, finding your way through a corn maze, and sight-seeing during wagon rides.

Raysin’s favorite part of visiting the orchard was spending quality time with her friends.

“Being able to spend time with my friends was nice because we all have very different schedules, and it’s hard to find that time to be with each other,” Rasyin said. “Plus being outdoors is always a bonus.”

Every fall, people take time out of their busy schedules to make memories with friends and family at an apple orchard of their choice.

Mallory Simms, junior, enjoys visiting at least one orchard every year and has a high opinion of them.

“Apple orchards are where all the fall-themed things meet,” Simms said. “Pumpkins, apples, hayrides, corn mazes, caramel apples, etcetera. People go there to get in the fall spirit, so they’re super popular.”

Besides Spicer Orchards, Michigan offers other great apple orchards like Blake’s Big Apple, Porter’s Orchard, and Montrose Orchards.

These local orchards offer activities for the entire family and every age group can find something to entertain them.

Senior Alexis Fidler enjoys visiting different apple orchards during her free time.

“I really like the whole idea, like flannels, a nice pair of boots, and the sunset,” Fidler said. “That whole picture is why I love apple orchards, even if it’s not picture perfect when I go.”
