Five sophomores share their goals for the new year

As 2017 is quickly approaching, many students find new goals to achieve.

From academic to personal, five sophomores shared their New Year’s resolutions with us.

What do you hope to accomplish in the year 2017?

“I would like to learn how to handle or deal with stress in better ways,” sophomore Stephanie Lane said.

Why do you want to accomplish this goal?

“I want to accomplish this because I want to become less uptight and happier. I want to enjoy high school, instead of panicking about the big test the next day or what someone said about me.”

What steps will you take to reach this goal?

“I plan on accomplishing this by finding new hobbies to get my mind off of stress, to focus more in class so that I won’t be confused once I get home.”

Sophomore Kristopher Perry

Kristopher Perry, Sophomore

What do you hope to accomplish in the year 2017?

“I hope that I will place in the top 10 ranking of my class this year as I did last year,” sophomore Kristopher Perry said.

Why do you want to accomplish this goal?

“I hope that I will accomplish this because I want to make my family proud and show them that I am a smart individual that is capable of doing anything that I set my mind to.”

What steps will you take to reach this goal?

“The steps that I will take include studying every night for every class to make sure I maintain a 4.0 or higher for every class and to keep all A’s until the end of the year.”

Sophomore Mallory Simms

Mallory Simms, Sophomore

What do you hope to accomplish in the year 2017?

“I want to be more outgoing,” sophomore Mallory Simms said. “I want to have fun and new experiences.”

Why do you want to accomplish this goal?

“I want to accomplish this because that’s what high school is about, making new memories.”

What steps will you take to reach this goal?

“The steps I want to take would be pushing myself outside of my comfort zone, relaxing about school more, and just going with the flow.”

Sophomore Brennan Ulman

Brennan Ulman, Sophomore

What do you hope to accomplish in the year 2017?

“This year I’d like to find a new interest,” sophomore Brennan Ulman said.

Why do you want to accomplish this goal?

“I enjoy learning about new things, and I feel I should expand my knowledge on a subject that I previously haven’t been interested or educated in.”

What steps will you take to reach this goal?

“To reach this goal, I am willing to read books on the subject, view documentaries, and if possible, look into summer courses at a college if it is a subject that I can be educated on through a class or course.”

Sophomore Maddy Burroughs

Maddy Burroughs, Sophomore

What do you hope to accomplish in the year 2017?

“I would like to reach a 4.0 GPA in 2017,” sophomore Maddy Burroughs said.

Why do you want to accomplish this goal?

“I want to accomplish this because I’ve always been super close, but I’ve never had a 4.0.”

What steps will you take to reach this goal?

“I plan to study more for my classes. I would like to put more time and effort into my schoolwork.”
