The girls’ basketball team won its first game on the road Dec. 5, defeating Owosso 35-22.

The Hornets were able to overcome the Trojans’ offense with good defense.

Overall, the Hornets scored five 3-pointers, while Owosso only scored one.

Junior Diane Bond led the team, scoring 11 points.

Bond believes the game was “a complete turnaround” from the team’s first game, when the Hornets lost to Lapeer.

Bond said beating Owosso was a “well-deserved win.”

Sophomore Brandi Morgan chipped in eight points, and Junior Karmen Bishoff added seven.

“We definitely improved both offensively and defensively from our first game,” Bond said. “We played together as a team and we were able to come out strong and maintain our lead.”
