Cedar Point adds new coaster, Valravn
Students anticipate enjoying the rides
Cedar Point fans will be interested in the new changes being made to the park for the 2016 season.
Cedar Point is an amusement park located in Sandusky,Ohio.
Many students have enjoyed what the park has to offer.
Lexis LaFave, sophomore, has been going to Cedar Point since she was 6 months old.
“I have gone once each summer since I was young,” LaFave said. “I love that it gives me some time to spend with my family.”
The popular rides, the Raptor and Top Thrill Dragster, were set to receive a new coat of paint. The Raptor has been finished, and the Top Thrill Dragster will be finished in upcoming months.
The park will also be removing three of their rides. Basing their decisions on guest feedback, they have decided to shut down and remove the Shoot the Rapids, the Skyscraper, and the challenge racing ride.
“I’ll be sad to see Shoot the Rapids go because it was a fun ride,” LaFave said. “The recently added rides have made up for that though.”
New rides have begun to be added to the park. In 2013, the Gatekeeper was introduced. This year’s new addition will be the Valravn.
Cedar Point has a video of the Valravn on its website. It gives viewers a virtual experience of what the ride will be like. You can watch the video here.
Junior Tanner Tuttle said it looks like a ride he would enjoy, and he is excited for it.
The Valravn will be available to ride in May 2016.
However, prices to enjoy Cedar Point have been raised this year.
A single day ticket will be $65 at the gate or $39.99 when ordered online.
There are other passes, like the season pass and the 2016 platinum pass available for purchase on the park’s website. The passes include various benefits that a single ticket does not.
Kenisha Finley, sophomore, said the new prices will not keep her from enjoying the park.
I have enjoyed going in the past and the improvements make me want to visit again soon.

“Tickets are expensive,” Finley said.”But I will probably look for the discounts that they have regularly before I purchase a ticket.”
Overall, Cedar Point is still a good summer activity to enjoy with the family.
“They are showing customers that they are doing their best to improve their experience,” Finley said. “I have enjoyed going in the past and the improvements make me want to visit again soon.”
