Hornets, Trojans tie in tennis at K-O Clash

No. 1 singles player Stephanie Lane won her match against Owosso 6-4, 6-2 on Friday, April 28, as part of the K-O Clash.

The tennis team tied Owosso on Friday, April 28, at home.

Singles teams winners were Stephanie Lane and Claudia Moore.

At No. 1 singles, Lane won 6-4, 6-2, while Moore won 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4.

Lane is impressed with the teamwork on the court so far this season.

“I think our team is doing a pretty good job, considering our varsity team only had four returning players,” Lane said.

Two doubles teams also won their matches.

No. 3 doubles Mallory Teed and Ellena Dye soared over their opponents in the first match but squeaking past the Trojans in the second match, 6-0, 7-6.

Also, No. 4 doubles Mallory Simms and Mickeely Dias went through three matches.

Simms and Dias won the first and third match both with the score of 6-2 and lost their second 2-6.

The Hornets are 1-2-3 overall, 0-2-1 in the Metro League.

The team appears next at Flint Southwestern Academy on Monday, May 1, at 4 p.m.
