The boys golf team defeated Swartz Creek 186-194 on Tuesday, April 25, at Genesee Valley Meadows Golf Course.

Junior Jack Vollmar, the match’s medalist, and senior Connor Vansteenburg led the team with scores of 41 and 43, respectively.

Vollmar was satisfied but thinks he could have done even better.

“I started off slow and caught a couple bad breaks but was proud of how well I finished,” Vollmar said.

Sophomores Tyler Gronauer and  Stephen White rounded out the scoring for Kearsley, shooting 51 apiece.

Vollmar continues to see improvement among his team as the season progresses.

“Most of the team is very young and inexperienced, but we’re already improving with each week that goes by.”

The Hornets are now 1-1 in the Flint Metro League.

Their next match will be on Friday, April 27, against Owosso at the Flint Elks.
