Softball sweeps Swartz Creek in doubleheader

Kearsley defeated Swartz Creek in both games of a doubleheader at home on Monday, April 24.

Senior Brittney Dick is one of the team captains and understands her importance to keep the team going.

“I am very proud of how our team played against Swartz Creek. Anyone that knows both teams knows that we battle every year for who will come out on top,” Dick said. “Last night, we decided that it would be us. It is a great feeling to watch our team battle and win.”

Kearsley 7, Swartz Creek 6

In the first game, the Hornets defeated the Dragons 7-6.

Sophomore Olivia Dunsmore earned the win after giving up four earned runs and striking out four.

Senior Loren Jolin contributed two hits and one RBI, and junior Halle Parish also had two hits, which included a double.

Junior Desiree Lewis had double and one RBI, while junior Katie Lewis had two RBI.

Kearsley 7, Swartz Creek 4

In the nightcap, Kearsley started off slower but then took the lead and finished strong, winning 7-4.

Junior Kaitlin Foco led the team offensively with three hits and two RBI. Dunsmore contributed with one hit and one RBI.

Freshman Clair Ouellette was the winning pitcher, giving up four earned runs and striking out four.

Kearsley is 6-4 overall, 5-1 in the league.

The Hornets host a doubleheader against Owosso in the second annual K-O Clash on Friday, April 28.
