The boys track and field team had their first double-dual meet of the season at Holly against the Bronchos and Fenton.

The Hornets beat Holly 70 2/3- 66 1/3 and lost to Fenton 102 3/5- 34 2/5.

In the field events, senior Seth Cherubini won the discus throw with a throw of 123 feet, 7 inches.

Following Cherubini in the discus were sophomores Eddie Harris, placing third (121-07) and Dylan Bushcur placing fourth (119-0).

Cherubini thinks that the team still could have done better.

“We didn’t perform as well as we could have,” Cherubini said.

Harris also won the shot put, throwing a distance of 46-5.

Senior Jamelco Harvey threw 41-8, finishing third in the shot put.

In addition, two Hornets tied for fourth in the high jump with four other jumpers. Juniors Gavin Etson and Tommy Plunkey each jumped 5-0.

In the relays, Kearsley placed second in the 800-meter relay with the team of Tre’Ron Griffin, Dakotah Doman, Plunkey, and Taveon Harris. The team had a time of 1:33.38.

The 1600-relay team of Griffin, Doman, Hunter Stanley, and Harris also placed second.  The team’s time was 3:37.74.

On the track, Harris led the Hornets.

He won the 100 in 11.47 and took second in the 200 in 23.60.

Plunkey was second in the 100, sprinting it in 11.81.

In the the 400, Griffin was second in 52.82, while taking fourth in the 200, running a 24.02.

In the 110 and 300 hurdles, Stanley placed second and Etson placed third.

Stanley’s ran 17.53 in the 110 and 45.16 in the 300, while Etson clocked a 17.77 in the 110 and a 45.40 in the 300.

Kearsley’s record stands at 1-1 in the league. The Hornets compete next on Friday, April 21, at Frankenmuth.
