People love pampering their pets

Pets are fun and are known for making days brighter. Whether it be toys, special foods, or spending time with them, they get what they deserve. These four animals bring smiles to their owners’ faces so often that their owners decide to pamper them.

“My dog is a Shih Tzu-Yorkie mix and his name is Cosmo,” Patrick said.

Patrick said his dog only likes beef-flavored foods.

“One time my mom bought Cosmo mint-flavored treats to make his breath smell good,” Patrick said. “He didn’t like them. So I made her go buy him beef-flavored treats.”

Not only does Cosmo have a beef-specific diet, he also gets the best water.

“My dog only has high-class bottled water,” Patrick said.

Cosmo’s favorite snack is popcorn.

“He loves popcorn,” Patrick said. “Whenever I have popcorn I always have to share it.”

Though he is small, Cosmo is mighty when it comes to toys. According to Patrick, Cosmo has torn through so many squeaky toys — his favorite kind– that he only gets beef-flavored bones now.

“He’s also had three different beds, but since he broke them all he just sleeps in my bed,” Patrick said.

“I have two female cats,” Davis said. “Their names are Angel and Christian. They are both calicos, but one is darker than the other.”

Every morning, the duo is greeted with a bowl of half-and-half because it’s smoother than milk. They also get treats every day when Davis gets home from school.

“If they even so much as look at me, I have to give them treats because they’re just adorable,” Davis said. “They’ve gotten so used to it that they meow if you don’t give it to them.”

Both of them love to play, and Davis can’t focus on her homework.

“They like to play with the ends of my pencils and wads of paper, so I end up playing with them when I’m supposed to be doing homework,” Davis said.

When Angel and Christian are done playing, they are supposed to nap in their toy-adorned pet bed.

“We bought them a bed,” Davis said. “But they’d much rather sleep in the sink, right in the way.”

“I have two guinea pigs, Oscar and Felix,” Hollingshead said.

Hollingshead gives them a great deal of hay and carrots, spending two hours with them after school every day.

“I also spoil them with love because they love to be held. Their favorite place to lay is right by my neck,” Hollingshead said. “They’re so fat, but I love them to death.”

In fact, Hollingshead carries Felix and Oscar around in their own little pouches.

“I bought them little pouches that I can hold them in,” Hollingshead said.

While she bought them both from PetSmart, she rescued Oscar.

“I kind of rescued Oscar because someone had him before me,” Hollingshead said. “They didn’t feed him and they took him back.”

Andy, sophomore Melinda Blaine’s Arabian,  enjoys the sun at Old Time Acres Farm.

“I have a horse,” Blaine said. “His name is Andy.”

Andy is a 16-year-old Arabian horse who Blaine owns.

“He stays at a barn with a stall that he goes in at night,” Blaine said. “He doesn’t live at home, but he’s coming home soon.”

Even though she can’t be with him at her home, she visits him as often as she can.

“I go out to see him about three or four times a week,” Blaine said.

Andy sports only the nicest tack and attire around the barn.

“He has a new blanket and a ton of boots and stuff,” Blaine said.

In addition to the barn, Andy gets to go out often. Blaine and Andy go to horse shows together almost every weekend.
