Crowned again: Boys bowling wins fourth regional in a row

The boys bowling team celebrates its fourth regional title in a row on Friday, Feb. 24, and will advance to MHSAA Division 2 state final on Friday, March 3.

The boys bowling team won the MHSAA Division 2 regional title at Mason City Limits on Friday, Feb. 24, taking charge of the regional’s 16-team field late in the tournament.

This is the fourth consecutive regional title for the Hornets.

The team started out strong with Baker games of 195, 198, 213, 237, and 205.

However, the Hornets’ last Baker game was a 140.

The team’s first individual game was 908, which gave them a total pinfall of 2,097.

The Hornets were in fourth place after this but soon had risen to first place after two individual game totals of 992 and 1,003.

Kearsley placed first in the region with a total of 4,091, beating out the second-place team, Lansing Waverly, by 42 pins.

Kearsley, Lansing Waverly, and Mason are the three teams that advance to the state final.

The state final is located at the Super Bowl in Canton. The competition is Friday, March 3, beginning at 8 a.m.
