Marching Band

The Marching Band placed well at the Marching Band Festival, hosted by the Thumb Friends of the Arts, Monday, Oct. 10.

The Hornets received a Division 1 rating.

They were rated a 38, or a 2, for marching, a 44, or a 1, for music, and a 43, or a 1, for general effect. Their overall rating was a 1, which is the best rating a band can receive.

Football

The football team faced off against Brandon, Friday, Oct. 7, for its homecoming game.

The Hornets fell just short of a win, losing 35-34.

Junior Tommy Plunkey scored two twice, contributing a 32-yard touchdown and a 26-yard touchdown.

Senior Brandon Byczynski also scored two touchdowns.

Kearsley’s next game will be Friday, Oct. 14.  The Hornets will face off against Flushing.

Spectators are encouraged to dress up in their formal wear and come out.

Golf

The golf team competed in its regional meet, Thursday, Oct. 6.

Kearsley placed ninth out of 12 teams with 411 points. Bloomingfield Hills Marian placed first with 342 points.

Individually, junior Grace Hoffman placed 25th with 98 strokes.

Junior Mackenzie Ryckman placed 32nd by shooting a 103. Junior Gabby Ropp shot a 104, which was good enough to place 33rd.

Junior Elise Pariseau shot a 106 to place 35th, while senior Sarah Streit shot a 112.
