Football

The Hornets won an exciting game 67-52 Friday, Sept. 23, against Swartz Creek.

It was a good night for  junior Tommy Plunkey, who scored on a 43-yard rushing touchdown and a 67-yard touchdown.

Senior Demonte Wheat also scored two touchdowns, while senior Christian Pinkney ran a 61-yard touchdown.

The Hornets improved to 2-3 overall and will be at Linden Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.

Cross Country

Girls and boys cross country competed at the Frankenmuth Eagles Cross Country Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 22.

The boys placed ninth out of 13 teams, with 228 points. Yale won the meet with a score of 70.

Junior Donald Martin finished first for the boys, placing 23rd, in 19:31.9. Junior Kyle Palka finished in 43rd place, running his 5K in 20:37.3.

There is no team score for the girls as they did not enter enough competitors.

Senior Alexis Kelly placed 40th. Kelly completed her course in 25:14.1. Freshman Ava Kelsey placed 52nd with a time of 26:40.8.

Golf

Kearsley split its last two matches.

The Hornets then played Clio, Thursday, Sept. 22. They beat the Mustangs 191-203.

However, earlier in the week Kearsley lost its match 183-196 against Flushing on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

The Hornets were led by junior Grace Hoffman who shot a 46, junior Elise Periseau who shot a 47, and sophomore Emma Bishoff who shot a 49.

Soccer

The Hornets lost their game against Holly 4-0 on Monday, Sept. 19.

It was also Senior Night for Kearsley.

Seniors Tony Doolan, Zach Elizondo, Briley Robinson, Chasen Robinson, Igor Perez, Lorenzo Hosch, Zachery Begin, and Dylan Terrance were all honored at halftime.

Hosch had eight saves and junior Devin Sredich and Dakotah Doman also contributed two shots each.
